$1 million in cocaine seized Thursday night
And Thursday's drug bust brings the total for the year to 260.
Twenty-nine pounds of cocaine were seized around 11 p.m. Thursday at the traffic checkpoint on I-25 just north of Las Cruces.
Agents approached a 1999 Dodge Intrepid at the checkpoint, and after the driver gave conflicting information, questioned him further. The agents also put "Cindy", the Border Patrol canine, on the clock.
Found in an "aftermarket" fiberglass compartment hidden in the gas tank of the car, was 10 bundles of cocaine valued at just under $1 million.
The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Felizardo Jesus Rodriguez-Antillon of Chihuahua, along with the cocaine and car, were turned over to the DEA.
